The LM2596 module 5V is an easy-to-use, nonsynchronous, step-down DC-DC converter. The module can deliver 5V constant output with DC current load of 3A with excellent line and load regulation. If the current exceeds 2-A then heat sink is required. The recommended input is greater than 9v if the current draw is higher than 1A. External shutdown is included, featuring typically 80 μA standby current. Self-protection features include a two stage frequency reducing current limit for the output switch and an overtemperature shutdown for complete protection under fault conditions. Specifications:

The LM2596 module is an easy-to-use, nonsynchronous, step-down DC-DC converter with a wide input voltage range up to 40 V. The voltage can be varied with the help of potentiometer. The module can deliver up to 3-A DC load current with excellent line and load regulation. If the current exceeds 2-A then heat sink is required. The input should be maintained always greater than required output. 

Since LM2596 converter is a switch-mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly higher in comparison with popular three-terminal linear regulators, especially with higher input voltages. The LM2596 operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz thus allowing smaller sized filter components than what would be needed with lower frequency switching regulators. 

Other features include a ±4% tolerance on output voltage under specified input voltage and output load conditions, and ±15% on the oscillator frequency. External shutdown is included, featuring typically 80 μA standby current. ADIY NE555 Pulse Frequency Duty Cycle Adjustable Module Square Wave Signal Generator is 5 V square wave signal generator. It generates a square wave signal used for experimental development. Also, use to drive a stepper motor for generating a square wave drive signal. 

The output duty cycle can fine-tune. Duty cycle and frequency is not separately adjustable, adjusting the duty cycle will change the frequency. 

The output frequency is adjustable: 

  • Period T = 0.7 (RA +2 RB) C 
  • RA, RB is 0-10K adjustable; 
  • Low profile when C = 0.001UF; 
  • IF stalls C = 0.1UF; 
  • High-frequency file C = 1UF;

This module is designed for switching only a single high powered device from your Arduino. It has a relay rated up to 10A per channel at 250VAC or 30VDC. There are two LEDs on the relay module indicating the position of the relay. We have three channels of the relay broken out to screw pin terminals. The channels are labeled for their function: common (COM), normally closed (NC), and normally open (NO). On the other side of the module, there are three pins – a Ground pin and a VCC pin to power the module and an input pin IN to control the relay. The input pin is active low, meaning the relay will be activated when you pull the pin LOW and it will become inactive when you pull the pin HIGH.

Because the Arduino (and Basic Stamp) are 5V devices, and most modern sensors, displays, flashcards, and modes are 3.3V-only, many makers find that they need to perform level shifting/conversion to protect the 3.3V device from 5V.

There are some other handy level shifters available in the market, from the DIP 74LVC245 to the fancy bi-directional TXB0108. However, neither of these are happy to work with I2C, which uses a funky pull-up system to transfer data back and forth. This level shifter board combines the ease-of-use of the bi-directional TXB0108 with an I2C-compatible FET design following NXP’s app note.

This breakout has 4 BSS138 FETs with 10K pull-ups. It works down to 1.8V on the low side, and up to 10V on the high side. The 10K’s do make the interface a little more sluggish than using a TXB0108 or 74LVC245 so we suggest checking those out if you need high-speed transfer.

While we designed it for use with I2C, this works as well for  TTL Serial,  slow <2MHz SPI, and any other digital interface both unidirectional and bidirectional. Comes with a fully assembled, and tested PCB with 4 full bidirectional converter lines as well as 2 pieces of 6-pin header you can solder on to plug into a breadboard or perfboard.

The Raspberry Pi Pico is a very capable device, but it lacks the ability to store sizable amounts of data on the board. This is a useful function when using the Pico for tasks such as data logging. To make this function practical we can use an SD card for expanding storage via an adapter.
