orce Sensing Resistor (FSR) 5.08mm Circle Description
The Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) 5.08mm Circle is a small, circular, and flexible sensor designed to detect and measure the force or pressure applied to its surface. It is widely used in various applications such as touch sensing, pressure mapping, and force measurement in electronic projects, robotics, healthcare, and more. The sensor's resistance decreases as the pressure applied to the surface increases, allowing for a direct relationship between force and resistance.
Key Features:
Compact Size
Small form factor with a 5.08mm diameter, making it suitable for integration into space-constrained devices and applications.
Force Sensitive
Sensitive to applied pressure, allowing it to measure a wide range of forces from light touch to heavy pressure.
Analog Output
Provides an analog resistance output that changes with the amount of pressure applied, suitable for interfacing with analog-to-digital converters (ADC) in microcontroller-based systems.
Thin and Flexible
Thin and flexible construction allows it to be used in curved or unconventional surfaces, offering versatility in design.
Low Power Consumption
Low current draw, making it ideal for battery-powered or energy-efficient applications.
Easy to Integrate

Durable Construction
Made with durable, long-lasting materials, ensuring reliable performance over extended periods of use.
Wide Operating Range
Can detect pressures across a broad range, from light force (e.g., gentle touch) to higher force applications.
Applications:
Touch Sensors: Used in devices that require touch-sensitive input or interaction, such as smartwatches, handheld controllers, or interactive displays.
Robotics: Employed in robotic applications for pressure sensing in robotic hands or tactile feedback systems.
Healthcare Devices: Integrated into medical equipment to measure pressure on surfaces like beds, chairs, or in prosthetics.
Force Measurement Systems: Used in systems that need to measure or monitor pressure changes, such as weight scales or industrial monitoring systems.
Gaming and Haptics: Used for pressure-sensitive input devices, enhancing gaming controls or haptic feedback devices.
Prototyping and DIY Projects: Popular in DIY electronics and prototyping for adding force sensing capability to various projects.
A simple Flex Sensor 2.2" in length. As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. Patented technology by Spectra Symbol - they claim these sensors were used in the original Nintendo Power Glove. The resistance of the flex sensor changes when the metal pads are on the outside of the bend (text on inside of bend). Connector is 0.1" spaced and bread board friendly. Check datasheet for full specifications.
Note: Please refrain from flexing or straining this sensor at the base. The usable range of the sensor can be flexed without a problem, but care should be taken to minimize flexing outside of the usable range. For best results, securely mount the base and bottom portion and only allow the actual flex sensor to flex.
